    Early Head Start

Camp Felix Early Head Start Fostering College Success Initiative Head Start Mentored Internship Program Mott Haven Academy Charter School Road to Success Road to Success Citywide

The Foundling’s Early Head Start home-based program operates in Puerto Rico and serves expecting mothers, infants, and toddlers. The program promotes strong parent-child relationships and helps provide high-quality early learning experiences.

Supportive early childhood education services for new and expectant families are critical to setting children up for a lifetime of opportunity. The goal of our Early Head Start program is to prepare young children from underserved communities for school readiness so each may succeed in school and in life beyond school. To achieve this goal, we deliver services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents and caregivers as partners every step of the way.

    Success Stories

Bianca Came to our Early Head Start Center for Support

Bianca, now a mother of three, came to The Foundling’s Early Head Start Center in San Juan when she learned she was pregnant with her first son, Kermitt, for pre-natal guidance and parent resources and support. Working in partnership with Head Start specialists, Bianca later learned that Kermitt had mild attention deficit challenges. Kermitt began to receive the services and help he needed to succeed in school.

Now 10 years old, Kermitt is on the Honor Roll in school, and Bianca’s two younger daughters are currently receiving support and services through Head Start as well. Thanks to the Head Start program, Bianca’s three children are thriving today—and she is too.
