Camp Felix

Camp Felix Early Head Start Fostering College Success Initiative Head Start Mentored Internship Program Mott Haven Academy Charter School Road to Success Road to Success Citywide

The New York Foundling launched Camp Felix in order to provide the young people we serve with an uplifting summer experience that enables them to bond with their peers, learn new skills, stay active, nurture their creativity and connect with nature.

Camp Felix is an unforgettable experience for its campers and counselors, all of whom are involved in the child welfare system or are participants in The Foundling’s programs. This adventure changes many of our campers’ outlook on life, their futures, and their sense of pride. Camp Felix campers immerse themselves in activities that instill feelings of self-confidence, resilience, respect, and community. Many campers leave carrying a new sense of hope, and the belief that despite their difficult circumstances at home or with their families, they can “do anything.”

This year, Camp Felix is thrilled to offer campers an unforgettable experience at our new location in Sandyston, New Jersey, offering activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, zipline, rock climbing, ropes course, sports, arts, music, dance, and more!

The 2022 camp sessions are listed below:
(campers can select up to 2 sessions, but enrollment will be based on availability/capacity)

  • Session 1: August 8-12
  • Session 2: August 15-19
  • Session 3: August 22-26

The deadline to submit applications for Camp Felix is Friday, June 17, 2022.

To be eligible for Camp Felix, children must be between the ages of 8 and 15 and either currently or previously involved in our foster care, preventive, and community programs, or a student at Haven Academy. Children whose cases have been closed within The Foundling are still eligible to register up to one (1) year after case closure.

Camp Felix Pride

This year, we are also offering an additional week of fun at Camp Felix Pride! Camp Felix Pride is a 6-day sleepaway camp July 24-29 in Plymouth, CT for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies ages 10-16.  The registration process for this camp is the same as traditional Camp Felix, you will have an option to select Camp Felix Pride when selecting your camp sessions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email Jane Feyder-Siegel or call 212-660-1321.

Thank you and we look forward to another fun-filled summer at Camp Felix!
