The Foundling is the only specialized provider of family support programs for families with children in which there is one or more Deaf or Hard of Hearing members. Our professional staff are fluent in American Sign Language and provide home-based services across New York City, using the evidence-based Functional Family Therapy – Therapeutic Case Management (FFT-TCM) model to provide families with the tools to thrive.

Deaf or Hard of Hearing children and adults often have trouble accessing the services they need. This can be a major obstacle to success, particularly for families who are involved with the child welfare system. Our Deaf Services programming, operating as part of our evidence-based Partners for Change program, helps keep children out of foster care by strengthening the family system. Caseworkers who are fluent in ASL meet with families in their homes and in their communities to work with family members to develop strategies to strengthen the family system and increase capacity to access available community supports.
