• LOCATIONS SERVED:

    Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island

  • AGES SERVED:

Families with children 10-17 years old

Families with indicated cases of child abuse and neglect where placement in foster care is imminent require specific supports in order for children to remain safely in the home. The Foundling’s Families Are Stronger Together (FAST) program uses the evidence-based model, Multisystemic Therapy Prevention (MST-PRV), to provide intensive therapy to the entire family.

The Foundling’s Families Are Stronger Together program aims to keep families together, assure that children are safe, prevent abuse and neglect, reduce mental health difficulties experienced by adults and children, and increase natural social supports. By providing treatment to the whole family, FAST engages and motivates youth and their families, resulting in sustainable change that keeps families together. The program operates in Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.

Success Stories

Sharing responsibility and strengthening the family

Sixteen-year-old Sarah wanted to help care for her five siblings to support her family and because she was excited to become a mother herself one day. Unfortunately, her parents struggled with substance abuse and relied too heavily on Sarah to care for their younger children. They were referred to The Foundling and our team worked with the family to combat their substance abuse and to understand how their actions affected Sarah and her brothers and sisters. The right program model and their self-motivation helped them to move on and redistribute the responsibility for the family’s care.
