Developmental Disabilities

Employment Services

Community Habilitation Day Habilitation Employment Services Residential Services

The Foundling’s Employment Services program aims to support people with developmental disabilities in securing and maintaining paid employment, gaining both financial autonomy and a sense of pride and accomplishment. Participants engage in meaningful job education activities that help them discern their career interests and abilities, apply for jobs, and succeed in their work.

Each person participating in The Foundling’s Employment Services works closely with a job coach on their path toward employment. Coaches provide a continuum of care, providing hands-on guidance and support through every step of the job-seeking process as participants learn about the application process, discover their own interests and skills, and gain experience in a variety of fields through meaningful volunteer experiences. Job coaches also continue to provide personalized support once participants secure employment.

Success Stories

Striving for Independence

Carl’s disabilities aren't seen as obstacles to living an independent and fulfilling life. With hands-on training and coaching from his care management team at The Foundling, Carl sets out to conquer the day from the moment his alarm clock rings. From preparing healthy meals in his supported apartment to managing his bank account and enjoying time with friends, Carl is setting and exceeding his own goals. Last summer, Carl began working at a local nursing home. He’s taking on new responsibilities and is becoming more and more independent, taking advantage of all the opportunities available to him.
