Itohan Omoregie is special counsel at The New York Foundling. She manages the day-to-day legal affairs of The Foundling and provides legal advice on various programmatic and operational matters.

Itohan has extensive experience in a wide range of legal and operational roles.  Prior to joining The Foundling, Itohan worked in legal and non-legal roles at the Administration for Children’s Services for almost ten years. She has experience in litigation, procurement, policy, and contract management.

Itohan holds a JD from The George Washington University Law School, and a BA in Industrial Relations from McGill University.  She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.

Senior Vice President, Development

As Vice President, Development, Kirkley Strand serves as The Foundling’s lead fundraiser, working closely with the board of trustees and senior leadership to grow and diversify revenue sources and partnerships to advance the organization’s mission. In her role, she provides the leadership, strategic direction, and oversight to expand and deepen The Foundling’s funder relationships and broaden the organization’s philanthropic network, overseeing fundraising efforts from individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government partners. In her tenure at The Foundling, Kirkley spearheaded the organization’s 150th anniversary celebrations, tripled the staffing capacity of the Development Department, and launched the major gift programs for The Foundling and Haven Academy.

Prior to joining The Foundling in 2017, Kirkley was the Chief Development Officer of Storefront Academy (formerly The Children’s Storefront), where she oversaw fundraising and communications. While at Storefront Academy she oversaw a successful 50th anniversary campaign and acted as a lead applicant for the successful opening of the organization’s first public charter school. Before joining Storefront Academy, Kirkley was the Director of External Relations at Read Ahead, an organization facilitating volunteer opportunities for corporate partners in New York City public schools. Her non-profit career began with work in major gifts and special events for The Door and University Settlement, and she began her career as a fourth-grade teacher in the Bronx.

Kirkley is co-chair of the Development Committee for the Council of Family and Childcaring Agencies (COFCCA) and sits on the Mentoring committee for the New York City chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Holyoke College and earned a master’s degree in education from Mercy College.
