Testimonials

“For a long time, I wasn’t aware of why certain things were affecting me the way they were, and I felt very out of touch with the rest of the world in that I thought nobody understood me. CPT helped me navigate situations of isolation, tumult, and trauma with a new perspective—pushing me in a way that is progressive and healing.”

CPT Participant

“I can’t believe the difference I see in myself—how much I’ve changed and improved in such a short time with CPT. I blamed myself for my whole life for what happened to me, and I just don’t anymore.”

CPT Participant

“Sometimes therapy was fun. Telling my story helped me feel better about the things that happened in my life.”

TF-CBT ParticipantAge 7

“Before trauma therapy, I felt alone and I had no one to talk to. I was going through a traumatic event at the time and needed help. After trauma therapy, I feel like I can open myself up more to people and talk about my situation that happened. So far now I am doing better in my school work, I got accepted to almost seven colleges, I am more outgoing, my mental and physical health is getting better. Advice that I would give to others is just go through the therapy and it will help you. After a while I started to like it and it really helped.”

TF-CBT ParticipantAge 17

“I’ve had therapists before, but none who actually identified like me. That’s really cool. Like you get things I don’t have to overly explain or feel weird for feeling.”

I&A Participant

“Your resources have helped me so much, and my family to accept [youth]. [Youth] is thriving in ways they haven’t…maybe ever. Thank you thank you thank you!”

What We Do

Through professional support and using research-based approaches to care, families can work toward healthier lives, stronger relationships and long-term success. We specialize in trauma-focused therapy for children and adults, and have been providing trauma therapy in the community for more than a decade.

Read more about the evidence-based therapies that we use:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

TF-CBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach for young people who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events. Each week, children and caregivers meet together with a Foundling therapist, where they work to learn new skills, process thoughts and feelings, and enhance growth. Children are taught coping methods, relaxation techniques, and expression skills, while caregivers receive support in how to cope with distressing behaviors and bolster family communication and support.  In addition to our TF-CBT therapists, our Identity & Acceptance Program clinicians are also trained in this model.

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is an evidence-based individual therapy model for teenagers and adults experiencing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.) The CPT model encourages participants to identify how their trauma influences their thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and behaviors. It allows participants to explore matters of trust, safety, power, esteem, and intimacy that may be impacted by their past trauma.

  • Managing & Adapting Practices (MAP)

MAP-CBT is an approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that uses coordinated evidence-based therapeutic interventions to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other behavioral issues. The model provides effective, highly[1]personalized cognitive behavior treatment for children and adolescents.

  • Circle of Security Parenting (COSP)

The Circle of Security model draws on decades of attachment theory research to help parents connect to and create secure attachment with the children in their lives in an 8-week group program.
