Socio-Therapist – Responsibilities and Requirements

The Socio-Therapist works to support foster parents in managing their child’s emotional and behavioral issues through intensive training, consultation, and supportive services.

Duties Include:

  • Managing a caseload of approximately of 8 children and families.
  • Conducting weekly visits to the foster home to provide assistance to the foster parents in identifying behaviors and developing and assisting in the implementation of behavior modification plans.
  • Planning and engaging youth in therapeutic recreational and social activities.
  • Making referrals for children and youth to community-based organizations.
  • Collaborating with school/day treatment staff to develop corresponding treatment plans.
  • Providing crisis intervention services as they occur and as needed.
  • Conducting Behavior Modification Trainings for foster parents.

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling or related subject area
  • One year working with children and families (preferably with children with emotional and/or behavior difficulties.)

Case Planner – Responsibilities and Requirements

The Case Planner assists a caseload of birth and foster parents, using evidence-based models to achieve permanency for children (either through reunification with parents, and if not possible, through adoption or preparation for independent living.)

Duties Include:

  • Maintaining a caseload of 10 active and 2 suspended pay cases on average.
  • Implementing evidence-based models with foster parents, birth parents/discharge resources, and youth. This includes running groups and supervising family visits using an evidence-based approach.
  • Conducting visits to the homes of foster parents and birth parents.
  • Accompanying and advocating for families in medical, drug treatment and screening, school, and housing settings.
  • Attending all court proceedings in timely manner with prepared court reports and/or permanency reports. Testifying when required.
  • Providing counsel/advocacy/case planning with parents and/or discharge resources and children.

Requirements Include:

  • BA/MA Psychology, Sociology or Social Work.
  • Driver’s License
  • 1 to 2 years child welfare experience preferred.
  • Experience with drug treatment populations preferred.
  • Spanish/English speaking preferred.
  • Typing skills and computer literacy required.

Family Resource Case Worker – Responsibilities and Requirements

The Family Resource Case Worker works collaboratively with a team of therapists to complete assessments and help families in our preventive programs meet their goals.  Using the evidence-based MST-Prevention model, case workers encourage families to improve their behavior and help young people make life-transforming changes.

Duties Include:

  • Collaborating with MST Therapist to assist families with ongoing support and casework interventions on a routine or emergency basis. Interventions might include assistance with housing, budgeting, job attainment, and prosocial recreational activities
  • Facilitating direct contacts with youth, families, community and public/private entities to gather information about resources for clients and connect families to needed resources and social support networks.
  • Maintaining clear, concise, and timely documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback.

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related subject area preferred.
  • One year casework case management experience in child welfare.
  • Experience with systems negotiation and building linkages, social service interviewing skills, conducting intake assessments, and conducting field visits
