The Foundling’s Educational Advocacy program provides trained advocates for all school-aged youth in foster care with The Foundling, getting them the support and services they need for educational success.

Young people in foster care typically lack the network of support they need in order to ensure they are receiving the education and educational services that they deserve. The Educational Advocacy team provides a base of educational knowledge, information, and coordination for each young person’s foster care placement team, and also works directly with schools, the Administration of Children’s Services, and community partners to ensure that students in foster care are connected with the services they need to succeed. Common interventions provided by The Foundling’s Educational Advocacy team include academic planning, suspension advocacy, college counseling, truancy prevention, school transfers, and recommendations for special education evaluation and implementation.
