Jenna and Karen's Story

Jenna and Karen are eight-year-old twins who carry the same terrible burden: for years, their own grandfather sexually abused them. They contracted HIV from him. At eight years old, they have little hope of survival. The girls live together in a specialized foster home, with foster parents who patiently deal with the behavioral issues of two pre-adolescent girls, while helping Jenna and Karen understand their illness and take care of themselves. The girls spend a lot of time in hospitals. Jenna has been hospitalized for several months at a clinic for frail and severely ill children. Every day Jenna and Karen struggle with the burden of disease and the memory of abuse, but they have been given what every child deserves: a safe home and a loving family.
