Residential Programs for Adults with
Developmental Disabilities
"All interactions with and among children, youth, adults, families and staff are based on our
capacity to be open to the full range of individual needs, circumstances and potential."
— THE NEW YORK FOUNDLING VALUES STATEMENT
Aging with Love and Respect
The Foundling’s forward planning and responsiveness is evidenced by our development of facilities specially
geared to meet the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities who have grown up in our system, and
who require long term residential care. These 24-hour care facilities were created in collaboration with the
New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD). The Intermediate Care
Facilities (ICFs) and community based Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRAs) provide consumers with
residential activities and support services to promote healthy and dignified lives. By recognizing the broad range
of individual needs, The Foundling is able to focus and implement a personalized care plan for each consumer.
