Innovation and Determination Saves Lives
The Mott Haven Leadership Program gives vulnerable inner-city teenagers a chance at positive peer interaction and adult guidance as well as a refuge from one of our City's most economically distressed neighborhoods-an environment where peer influence is often gang related, and corrupted by violence and drugs. The focus of this educational and personal development program is on resisting negative peer pressure, serving the community, valuing education, and resolving conflict without violence. In addition to the powerful rewards of building self-esteem and leadership, students who make significant personal and academic progress are further rewarded with attendance at a leadership training mission set in a rural environment. At the training site, participants experience the power of enhanced physical activity while enjoying the excitement of real team-building experiences.
