The New York Foundling's Operating Principles:Supports, services and advocacy provided by the New York Foundling reflect its view that a person's needs, capacities and development are influenced by the interaction among the child, youth or adult, his or her family and the social environment. This " ecological perspective" provides the context within which the Foundling Provides services that respect each person's race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religious preference and abilities. Engages children, youth, adults and families as full partners in person- and family-centered planning and service delivery and expects them to be responsible and make informed decisions. Provides support and care to children, youth and adults within their family or in the most family-like , least restrictive setting that meets their needs. Advocates for the rights and needs of children, youth, adults and families and works in partnership with the community in support of those rights and needs. Collaborates with communities and other organizations to improve its ability to provide high quality supports and services. Continually measures the effectiveness of its supports and services and staff capacity to deliver them. |
