The Associates were founded by Christopher Calise and a group of his friends who were interested in giving back to the community. The members of the group felt their lives were going well yet they grappled with a persistent yet unfulfilled need to help others. With programs throughout the New York City area serving 13,000 people each year, The Foundling provided the group with opportunities to make a difference in their communities.

Initially, The Associates focused their efforts in support of The Foundling's Maria Lucadamo Crisis Nursery. Over two years they raised over $50,000 for the nursery. While the support they provided to the Crisis Nursery was invaluable, it became clear that working directly with the youth in our care, ages 16 to 21, was how The Associates' time and talents would yield the greatest benefit.

Today, The Associates play a critical role in supporting The Foundling's Youth Development Program, which works with young people in foster care who, when they turn 21, will no longer be supported by the child welfare system. In addition to generating critical financial support for the Program through a variety of fundraising activities, The Associates host a series of projects working one-to-one with the young people, acting as mentors, friends, guides, teachers, and cheerleaders to a group of youth in need of positive, stable role models.

You don't need much spare time to be a Foundling Associate - you just need a strong commitment to helping the most vulnerable children and families. And, of course, the desire to meet and work with a group of dynamic young professionals from a broad range of industries.

Realizing the time constraints on young executives in New York, The Associates have a fluid organizational structure that will allow you to contribute your skills to the fullest but do so within a reasonable time commitment. By providing you with the flexibility to maintain your busy life while fulfilling your interest in being involved in your community, we hope to foster a long-lasting relationship with you and all of The Associates.
