Workshop Series

  • Child Abuse Identification & Reporting will look at the historical and societal context of child abuse with a focus on identification and reporting.

    The workshop meets the training requirements of the New York State Department of Education for mandated reporters of child abuse and child maltreatment. A certificate of completion is awarded to those obtaining a professional license.

  • Trauma-Specific Interventions for Traumatized Children: Treatment strategies for treating traumatized children will be presented with a focus on three primary areas of intervention:

    (1) Coping Strategies : using a "toolbox" of coping mechanisms

    (2) Connection : using effective recruiting strategies to create a support network

    (3) Creating Meaning : helping find meaning when living in a chaotic environment

  • Supporting the Practitioner's Ability to Engage Fathers. This workshop will assist practitioners to better understand how to establish meaningful relationships with fathers; how to monitor and regulate their own personal feelings and issues about men; how to seek out the necessary support for themselves and how to partner with fathers in support of their children and families.
