The purpose of this book is to support children in foster care, as well as their parents and foster parents, as they deal with complicated and often painful loyalty conflicts. The three-part resource includes:
- a soft-cover book which provides emotional validation as well as specific and concrete suggestions on how to deal with 16 common family situations that are likely to evoke loyalty conflicts. Each of the family situations is described, along with examples to bring them to life, followed by suggestions for children on how to respond and avoid having to choose one parent over another.
- a companion workbook designed to teach children critical thinking skills, help them consider their options, remain true to themselves and their values, and find support within themselves and from others.
- a comprehensive training manual to help guide agencies in training foster parents in the effective use of the book and workbook with the children in their care.
Utilizing this three-pronged approach will ensure the best results for children and their families.
