The Slow Road Back to Trust
Sexually and physically abused children lack the ability to trust appropriately or maintain loving relationships with adults. Untreated abuse victims are prone to a host of lifelong behavioral problems. Many grow up to abuse their own children, perpetuating the cycle. To heal key relationships, "Our Place", a program conducted in collaboration with the Vincent J. Fontana Center for Child Protection, offers highly specialized individual and group therapy to abused children and their nonperpetrating parent. Timely intervention helps these children regain their sense of identity while developing a capacity to trust and love appropriately.
